Why I Hate Kanye West (And You Should, Too!)

Kanye West

Everyone has different opinions on rapper Kanye West, which is totally warranted. Many people enjoy his music, many people think hes funny, many people think hes a good fashion designer. However, what he has going against him surpasses any compliments you could pay the man. Every valid reason to hate Kanye is based on choices he makes himself, which simply highlight the pure ignorance he represents. I understand hateis a strong word, and I try not to use it unless someone really is affecting my life. Ive tried to ignore this man, tried not to put my negative opinion out into the world, but something about him just makes me mad. I should say some things, because there are plenty of reasons. I am personally offended by Kanye West, and heres why:

Hes Arrogant

Kanye actually thinks hes a genius. I mean, he calls himself Yeezus.Yet, this has been going on for much longer than that 2013 album. In 2007 on The Wendy Williams Show, Kanye said point blank that, I am the number one human being in music, that means any person thats living or breathing is number two.In a 2008 interview with Tim Westwood, Kanye actually said, I am the new Jim Morrison, I am the new Kurt Cobainand The Bible had 20, 30, 40, 50, characters in it. You dont think I would be one of the characters of todays modern Bible? No, Kanye, I really have trouble seeing that possibility. Skip a few years to now, and hes just the same. At the 2015 VMAs, Kanye announced to be running in the 2020 presidential election. He wasnt kidding. In recent tweets, he brought up the GRAMMYs and wrote, Im practicing my Grammy Speech. Im not going to the Grammys unless they promise me the Album of the Year!!!Kanye actually thought he could win a GRAMMY for an album that didnt even exist, because thats how entitled he feels. Even more recently, Kanye declared he was bankrupt. With this, he reached out to Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, tweeting, Mark Zuckerberg invest 1 billion dollars into Kanye West ideas.Yeah, because genius Mark Zuckerberg would actually listen to anything Kanye says or inspires to do. Eagles singer-songwriter Don Henley said in a 2015 Rolling Stone article that Kanye is either incredibly arrogant or incredibly insecure, or some combination of the two.Perhaps this is why Kanye doesn’t want Rolling Stone writing about him anymore.

He’s Sexist

Kanye has been known for his extremely sexist lyrics, like many rappers in the game, so Im not even going to try to compile a list of all of them. Instead, lets look at a few verses from Life of Pablo. Kanye raps things like, That p*ssy should only be holding exclusive rights to me,” “I bet me and Ray J would be friends if we aint love the same bitch, and I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, why? I made that bitch famous.Apart from speaking hypothetically with that p*ssy,Kanye takes it a step further mentioning his ex-enemy Taylor Swift, and even his wife, Kim Kardashian. If Kanye is calling his own wife a bitch, then what does that say about how he views women? He proves that he feels entitled to having sex with any woman he wants when he states the possibility of having sex with Swift. Theres obviously no possibility. When social media took to Kanye about this diss to Swift, he lied and tweeted, 3rd thing I called Taylor and had a hour long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessings. This was immediately dismissed when reps of Swift denied anything like this. It was then clear that Kanye was lying during Swifts GRAMMY acceptance speech, when she referred to the ordeal. Apart from lyrics, another recent tweet from Kanye has been making much stir. He tweeted BILL COSBY INNOCENT !!!!!!!!!!far after Cosby had admitted to giving women Quaaludes prior to sex. After 25 women had publicly accused Cosby of rape or assault, and after the determination swaying heavily towards guilty, Kanye just had to tweet about it. He is obviously insensitive to womens rights, and this tweet is extremely demeaning and hurtful. The man doesnt care about women and wants to put them down.

He’s Racist

Kanye, the son of a Black Panther, also frequently includes racist lyrics in his songs. One of the biggest examples is in the song Cliquewhere Kanye raps, You know white people get money, dont spend it.In most interviews, he brings up racism, and has even referred to white people as the devilin an MTV interview. He once claimed that white people created AIDS to kill off black people. Upon his fashion design debut, he said that whoever doesnt like his sneakers are racist. More recently, when album Life of Pablo was about to release, Kanye tweeted, To Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, New York Times, and any other white publication. Please do not comment on black music anymore.Like, is he kidding?! Hes literally telling white people not to write about black music anymore. What does black musiceven entail? Im pretty sure there are plenty of white and other races of rappers out there just as successful as Kanye. It would be sort of less offensive for him to tell them not to write about him specifically, but still, he always has to bring race into every thought he shares. Telling white publicationsnot to talk about black musicis segregation at the first degree. He divides the world into blacksvs. whites, only furthering the existence of racism.

All in all, Kanye is a bad person. His morals are skewed, if even existent, he is a poor role model for any aspiring artist, and the worst part is that he doesnt think hes doing anything wrong. On the contrary, he thinks he is God. I know hes just a celebrity, but celebrities are a huge part of the media that people take part in every single day. Hes a heavy participant in making the world a worse place, and Im not even trying to be dramatic. I try to brush it off when someone brings up his name in conversation, I try not to look at his ignorant comments when someone on my Twitter timeline retweets him, and I try to keep my mouth shut when someone plays a new track off of Life of Pablo. But honestly, I feel like a bad person not sharing this. I hate Kanye West, and you really should, too.
